sorry to hear of everyones aches and pains and illness, and i hope every one gets well soon. here is a get well tonic for all, just follow Dr McBunny's
advice and feel better. and enjoy the medicine here with.

monday, december 8 will be a hard day for me. six years ago i lost my first dog, spree, to a brutally quick lymphosarcoma; and we all lost john lennon in
1980. i'll be home that day, and if anyone feels like getting together to chat, i'll be around.

this is a 'just in case' note - we're under a
 winter weather advisory for freezing rain  and  icing, so we might very well lose
our power for a few days.  if you don't hear from me, i haven't run off in a snit - i can't get on line! 
hopefully this frightening eventuality won't eventualize and i'll be connected with the outside world so i can harrass  and irritate 
everyone as soon as the urge strikes me.
and perve. can't live without my several-times-daily russell fix. 
becks edited the next morning - still okay, but it's 31 degrees and raining; everything has a heavy coat of ice. i got up at 5:45 to check the school closings, and wouldn't you know - my district was the only one with a 2-hour delay, and everywhere else was closed! they've closed now, thankfully. mixed feelings, though; as a substitute, i only get paid if i actually work, so i've lost a day's pay, but it would have been a very slippery 11-mile trip. b and so this is christmas -

Been there, done that.....slid on a ice filled street right though the parking lot fence and into a parking space one day on my way into work before catching the school closing announcement.....screeech....totally terrified I'd hit someone else!!! Slip-sliding the whole way!!!! Only to find out it was just me and the custodian....school had been closed while I was on the road daring Death!!! Isn't it warm this time of year in NZ, scherzo1? I am in Florida since Black Friday, the weather has been so so, it is warm and sunny but you know Fla.
rainy but then it clears up. anyway.

thanks for the well-wishes, folks. we're not completely out of the woods yet; it's supposed to get VERY cold and windy
overnight, but it was warm enough this afternoon that most of the ice came off the branches. hopefully we won't lose our power.

friendly and we kept crossing paths with them. The father was keen to tell me that they have more cows than sheep these days.

Just popping in to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. It's been a long while since I've posted anything but I've been 'lurking' and
catching up.
My grandson will be undergoing a kidney transplant tomorrow (his mom is donating one of hers) and if you could remember them (Chris and Beverly) in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean a lot to me. He is only 20 years old and was diagnosed with kidney desease three years ago...quite be accident as Bev took him for a blood test because he always seemed tired and that just wasn't like him. She thought he had Mono but it turned out to be much worse than that. Fortunately he didn't have to go on a donor list because his mom was a very good match. The operations will be here in our city so they will be close at hand and we can all be there for them. I'll try to give updates when I am able. Thanks. i'm so sorry to learn that you and your family are having to endure this kind of ordeal, but how wonderful that your daughter-in-law is a match! let's hope the entire procedure goes off without a hitch and that you have good news to share with us before the new year begins. i was nearly a match for a bone-marrow recipient quite a few years ago at about this time of year (didn't work out, unfortunately), but i remember how amazing it felt for a while to think i might be able to save someone's life by giving a part of me - that would have been the best christmas gift i ever gave. my thoughts will most certainly be with all of you over the coming days and weeks. be of good cheer - they are luckier than many people! becks and so this is christmas -

My dad has dialysis 3 times a week, so I know how debilitating and life-disrupting it is when the kidneys don't function.
My best wishes for a smooth operation and speedy recovery for both Chris and Beverly.

Thanks becks and Catherine. Sorry to hear about your Dad, Cat. I know hard dialysis is on the body. I wish him well. Is he on a list for a donor?
The doctors told Chris that since his mom was a match he wouldn't go on dialysis at all. When the time came that his blood work showed them that his kidneys no longer could do their job, he would go right to transplant surgery, so at least he didn't have to endure dialysis. |
