Ijust watched POL this evening,and I too hadn't seen it for awhile. This film really should have turned out better than it did.The cinematography is great ,Hackford did a great job with that aspect of POL ,but... The story itself just never jells in a satisfying way.Afterall wasn't it supposed to be about moral ambiguity...including the activities of the oil company, the building of the pipeline and dam,Ryan and Morse's relationship, and the biggie..the negotiator,his job and his love for Ms. Ryan? Oh well RC was good as the negotiator,and a real temptation to a wife who was feeling adrift but Hackford 's decision not to show the movieviewer any sweaty guilt -inducing sex between RC and Ryan is goofy and illogical.What a lost opportunity for all involved. I do love the ending however, the choice of song was perect..Hackford got that right at least. Oh and Pamela Reed was great ,she out-acted Ryan by miles, a real pro.

i've been in a terry mood for the past couple of nights and just finished watching this again, certainly not for the last time. those last 35 seconds on
terry's face slay me every time, and i found myself with tears in my eyes. i know this has been said dozens of times in the past, but the range of
emotions, feelings and thoughts that pass over that man's face and through his eyes amaze me. sadness, love, loss, hope, irony, success, loneliness - how
does he do it?
and those beautiful lips...! 
no wonder i went hunting for more info after i saw this film, which it turns out was a year and eight months ago tonight. after terry came bud, then maxie (and those three  tofog videos!), and then POW bbbbbbbbben - done
like dinner. within two and a half months, i'd seen everything and bought most of them.
