The forest is in great abundance off in the background. I just liked all the cool big rocks peppering the landscape behind him on top of that hill.

Thanks, Zeph. So many of us are just waiting with baited breath now that it's finally in production! I'm hoping for images of Russ in chain
mail! And hoh yeah, I predict that the screen cappage that will take place once it's out on DVD will have us all feeling happy and woozy beyond
imagining. (And I agree about the costumes -I'm anxious to see what they will all look like as well.)

Absolutely gorgeous pic, Jess.........and worth repeating on this page!
While I looooove his hair that length, practically speaking, a forester and archer - not to mention outlaw - would need to have his hair short enough not to
whip into his eyes and blind him at a crucial moment, or tangle in his bowstring during drawing and release. So, while the ponytail would've met those
criteria...but was definitely NOT one of his better looks...I can see why the decision to crop the luscious locks. I've noticed the waves lengthening in
the back already, so I think the coif will be in an appropriate stage of moderate fallow by the time filming starts.

Nearly Full Cast Announced for Ridley Scott's Robin HoodMarch 25, 2009
It looks like the next film from Ridley Scott won't be anything to quickly forget, like A Good Year and Body of Lies. Scott is gearing up to shoot Robin Hood in the next few months and has finalized most of the cast, which will be headlined by Russell Crowe. The project was originally envisioned as a revisionist take on the Robin Hood story told from the point of view of the Sheriff of Nottingham, but that idea was scrapped. This latest iteration follows Robin from his early days in King Richard's army to his return to Nottingham to his creation of a band of mercenaries who challenge the sheriff and eventually try to prevent civil war. Thanks to this latest news on Hollywood Reporter today, the full cast for Robin Hood is as follows: » Russell Crowe as Robin Hood
Currently missing from the cast is King Richard, although I'm sure we'll hear an update on him soon. Additionally, I'm unsure if Crowe is still playing both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham (as was the case from the very start), because I thought that idea was scrapped with the early version of the script. However, since there isn't any information that says otherwise, that appears to still be the case. This latest version of Robin Hood was written by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris (Bulletproof Monk, "Sleeper Cell") as well as Oscar winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Conspiracy Theory, Mystic River). At this point, I don't know if this is still the Gladiator-like Robin Hood movie that Ridley Scott said it would be,
but I'm still excited for it anyway. We'll keep an eye on the production and let you know if we hear more details on the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Shooting begins in the UK in July, so stay tuned for updates!

Poly tells me that the wonderful Douglas Hodge has also been cast. She probably found this in the reviews just out about Dimentos which he is directing at the
Donmar at the moment. I am avoiding spoilers for Dimentos until I have seen it (on 8th May) so someone else will have to have a look around.
Douglas is the most wonderful, creative, multi-talented and joyously lovely man you could wish to meet. He has a little band so he can relax with Russell if there is any down-time. ![]() Breathe in, as deep as you can....

He has a little band so he can relax with Russell if there is any down-time.Russell must be feeling so happy to be involved in this project, got so many band people to hang out with. Oh yeah!! Another two articles I've found re: casting of Vanessa Redgrave. (the bold is mine) From: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/mar/25/vanessa-redgrave-in-ridley-scott-robin-hood-film Vanessa Redgrave cast in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood filmActor to play Eleanor of Aquitaine in the film, which also stars Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett
Theatre legend ... Vanessa Redgrave in The Year of Magical Thinking at the National Theatre in London in 2008. Photograph: Tristram Kenton Vanessa Redgrave has joined the cast of Ridley Scott's revisionist Robin Hood project, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Redgrave will play the formidable Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, mother of King John, in Scott's retelling of the Hood myth, which stars Russell Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham alongside Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian. The production has been beset by problems but shooting is scheduled to begin imminently. Redgrave recently postponed a New York performance of the one-woman play The Year of Magical Thinking following the death of her daughter Natasha Richardson after a skiing accident. The stage show, adapted from Joan Didion's memoir chronicling the loss of her husband and daughter, has been rescheduled. *****
Vanessa Redgrave takes 'Robin Hood' role
GOD bless her, hope she'd be able to get through the sadness. Bet the whole cast and crew are very supportive and backing her up. ![]()

Gee, Eleanore of Aquitaine was also the mother of King Richard, who figures quite heavily in any Robin Hood tale.Wonder why the reporters fail to
mention this in their write ups. (Send those ninnes back to history class!)
Interesting coincidence in one way - when Katharine Hepburn took the role of Eleanore in "The Lion in Winter" (as Murph stated on her site yesterday, it's a true classic), she had just lost Spencer Tracy and was heavily grieving. Peter O'Toole was especially watchful of her, and the two hit if off famously. The chemistry between them is what makes this movie such a sparkling gem. If you've never seen it, don't be afraid to give it a go. The acting is first rate, Anthony Hopkins plays Richard, and the dialog is as biting as it is hilarious and heartbreaking at times. I hope Vanessa Redgrave finds a bit of lightening for her heart in this role. The loss of one's child at any age is a hard weight to carrry. |

becks - you are not mistaken. You have correctly defined the concept of Fallow.
More succinctly?

Gorgeous work Jess and Gladannie!

Many people find that pouring themselves into work or a project they love is a good way to deal with grief. I've not seen Lion in Winter for so long I will need to catch it again before Robin Hood comes out. Tweety, we got the term fallow from Himself. While explaining his post-PoL look, he said that he liked to "go fallow" in between films. six - Doug talked about being part of Robin Hood at his blog here - as you posted. He's speaking about Dimetos: weve got a couple more weeks before first preview. and then im off to do the robin hood movie with russell crowe for three weeks - to try to get out of debt and hence the beard and meanwhile sunday night im singin i am what i am in a tux at the oliviers.I read that Doug won the Olivier (stage) for Best Actor in a Musical for La Cage Au Folles. This truly is a musical band of merry men.

Murph has the link to Scott singing "I Feel Good"...yes, he is very good! I hadn't heard him sing before and hope to hear more in Robin Hood!!
Thanks becks and cat for clearing up my "fallow" question. Russell does have a very wide vocabulary!! My sister used to read the dictionary just so she could expand her vocabulary...I guess I should have followed her lead and done that also!! Now to go look up succient...let's see...s is after r and before t.... |
