Here's another thought.....maybe it has something to do with Yuku supporter. Did you sign up for that? Where exactly do you see ads other than your
profile page?
I opened my profile page in IE (I use AdBlock when I use Firefox, so I don't see any ads anywhere then) and I don't have any ads on my page.

i've seen them at murph's message board, but i'll have to check around to see if i get them in other places. 'everywhere' may have been an
exaggeration brought on by frustration.
it's not in my avatars. i don't recall whether or not i saw the ads when i had my own computer up. i know christoph's virus protection package subscription expired a short while ago, but the ads predate that by several weeks. i did subscribe to yuku supporter, but that year ended in mid-july, which is about when this problem occurred - or at least it was around then that i became aware of it. i don't have any problem resubscribing, but shouldn't everyone who subscribed a year ago july be having this problem? actually, i'd think everyone, regardless of status, should be seeing ads - yuku shouldn't be singling out isis and me. since cc is a 'gold community', i should be covered here; i can understand seeing ads in other websites since i'm not a supporter there, but here, i should be good. but at least now i'm in good company! becks |

I guess I'm confused. I thought first that you were only seeing them in your profile. Your profile is not a CC page, it's a yuku page. If you
switched to a different yuku message board, your profile page would remain the same.
If the ad is because you didn't re-up for supporter on your anniversary date, then the only people who would have the problem are those who similarly aren't a supporter. I re-up every year. Being an ad-free board costs more; a yuku board is not necessarily ad-free, although CC is, or is supposed to be. As I said, I guess I'm confused -- are you seeing them on CC forum pages?

i'm seeing them on my profile page but not on the threads here at cc. when i go to murph's threads, i see an ad on those pages, but not on ours. when
i go to the constant crowe threads, i get one on those, too.
i asked someone (can't remember if it was you or jellyd) back in early july if we were going to have a subscription drive; whoever it was i asked said we were good for some huge number of page views, so i should be good for a while. since at the time i didn't have a lot of income (which i still don't but it's better and regular now), i didn't re-up. maybe that's all i need to do? it would be worth $20 for me to get rid of these annoying things. i don't watch ads on tv; i don't want to watch them on my computer! b |

in fact, i'm going to re-up right now. i'll let you know if that solves my problem. i want to support the site anyway, so it's no biggie.
b well, that was easy. $12, annual re-subscriber, ads gone. and i'm helping the site. i'm happy. i'm such a technodoofus.

Well....if I was a little smarter, it wouldn't have taken us so long to get the answer! You may still see ads at the other message boards. I don't know if they generate enough income to support gold status or not. Now -- I'm still curious as to how Firefox makes your screen look weird.

I just did a quick check, and in case anyone is anxious about the cost of running the board.......We had a fund drive in July 2008, and then got some extra
credit from yuku for getting the funds all at once, I guess, and we still have a lot left.
We probably have enough credit to last us at least until next July. A penny buys 50 page views. And if you are a supporter, your page views don't count against the total. So if those of us who post most are all supporters, then the board costs practically nothing.

Ok...I use firefox all the time, and it doesn't look that way for me. After you get your new computer, you might try it again, it could be something set

it did it on my old computer and it was even worse when i got my new flat screen monitor. i only used firefox when i wanted to download vids that were very
long.

Schmiddy, did you find the same but different thread? Ruth....I think we figured out that the reason becky had ads is because she had let her yuku supporter lapse. Could that be the same reason for you? If you're a supporter, you shouldn't see any ads on your account page, and if you do, you might want to let yuku know about it.... zephyr, if you're having trouble with your cursor....oftentimes the reason for that is that your mouse needs to be replaced. The board should not be able to affect something like that.
