They'll most likely stay at least a few weeks. If filming is going to continue until at least through part of August, I think they'll stay for awhile, maybe return home and come back again mid-summer.

The Australian actor practised " footing " and today he is coming back to London as "Robin Hood " . JOSEP SANDOVAL \| Barcelona \| 05/05/2009 \| Actualizada a las 03:31h \| Gente y TV Inaccessible, without saying a word with anybody and just using a mediator as an interpreter, , Russell Crowe has enjoyed the city of Barcelona for two days. His landscape has been the same for two days , the beach of the Barceloneta, where he practised " footing" on the sand, perhaps in order to keep the shape which his new character as Robin Hood in Nottingham requires, a film which today he starts shooting in London directed by Ridley Scott. The actor has practically used the same clothes during the two days he spent among us, a pair of Bermuda shorts, some t-shirts , a tracksuit and a cup from which he barely separated and that he pulled down every time somebody tried to guess who was hiding behind it. He arrived on a private jet and he came back to London in the same way , where he finally starts the shooting of a film which has been delayed many times. The first time it was because the script had to be adjusted and then because of the weight of the actor, who , told by Ridley Scott, had to put on 20 Kilos for the film "Body of lies" and that now Scott has wanted him to lose. The extended diet caused that the actress who would be in the film , Sienna Miller, left the film due to dates problems and also because the love scenes between the young and skinny girl and the chubby Crowe were ridiculous ; Cate Blanchett has finally got the role of Marian. The Australian Crowe didn´t know Barcelona; as a matter of fact, Europe is still a failed subject that he wants to pass brilliantly. So this is how last Saturday he caught the plain and told his manager:" Let`s go to Barcelona". And here everything has been positive; so positive that he has promised to return as soon as his film shooting permit him to do it. Without previous reservations or calls to somebody, he turned up at the Hotel Casa Fuster protected by two bodyguards as tall as him, who must be more than 1,90 easily. He didn´t ask for advice about meals or parties; he looked happy guessing, looking for and enjoying a discrete anonymity. Actually, the picture which can be seen with this text was taken at n the refreshment stand El Chiringuito del Sol, the first that is in the beach of the Barceloneta , opposite the restaurant Pinxo Platja . There he took three coffees with saccharin that he himself had with him. On the sand, in a modest and quiet place, crowded and attended by young people, non-conformist, which perhaps reminded him of the beach landscapes of his land. ". It looks to be a treasure trove. In addition to the Hanson interview that Murph linked and quoted, there are references to Russell in other interviews. Ridley: Tell us about working with Russell Crowe. There's no doubt after seeing this film that he's going to be a huge star. Russell's a collaborator. He brings a great deal to the table when he takes on a role, really gives it his all and has a lot of ideas. As soon as we cast him as Maximus, he started reading Marcus Arrelius' writings and familiarizing himself with the history of the Roman Empire. He's very well read on a lot of other subjects, as well. Ridley Hackford: Russell Crowe proved again in this film that he's both an actor and a movie star. I had seen Russell in L.A. Confidential and was just blown away by his work. There was something really special going on behind his eyes. But L.A. Confidential was also a period piece, and Russell very convincingly evoked a man of that period in the film. Our film was contemporary, so I wasn't quite sure if he'd be right for it or not. Among colleagues in our business, there's sort of an unwritten rule that we can look at each other's works in progress if there's an actor that we have our eye on. At that time, two friends of mine had just finished films with Russell: Ridley Scott with Gladiator and Michael Mann with The Insider. Both let me see footage from the films while they were still in post (production). As soon as I saw how Russell so brilliantly played these two completely diametrically opposed characters, I knew that this was our guy. He's got it all. Some of the interviews have great pics too.
