If y'all missed this, I'm sure it will repeat. From Murph's: http://www.murphsplace.com/crowe/news.html
OK, that was a pretty good segment on the CMT show. They reached back aways, they played a good portion of the Sail Those Same Oceans video, and they called the band name T O F O G...I guess that way they didn't have to bring up the name change, lol. Anyway, Russell got some very nice praise from the commenters, better than some of the others they'd talked about previously. They had a couple of snippets from an older interview of Russell talking about his music, they played STSO, flashed a cover of Other Ways of Speaking, and said all his work seems to have paid off: David Wild - contributing Editor, Rolling Stone - I think he's got a great voice. Peter Tilden - writer, producer. I think he was amazing. I thought his pitch is perfect. I thought the song selection was ideal. Dayna Devon-Extra - He does show a sensitive side of himself and I like that. I do think there is a sensitive side to him. David Wild - Gladiator would have been so much lighter and nicer with a few country tunes. Voiceover - Whether he's singing country, rock or pop, Russell Crowe has only one goal in mind. Russell: It's about entertaining people, it's a really simple thing. I'm not trying to be cool or break any new musical ground. Any place where you go and play and people know your songs, and like what you do, that's the reason you do it. (Mmmm, I think you can count many of us in that group, eh? Lance Smith - CMT Top20 Countdown - That guy doesn't care, he's going to go out and do it the way he wants to do it.

i love the bit in the article about charlie not knowing what his dad does! and i guess i can understand his not liking see
his dad being a dad to two other kids... i can see how that might be a bit upsetting to a sensitive boy like charlie.
sounds like russell and dani are doing a great job at raising two normal boys. |

Excellent job with photoshopping, swept.
Funny, when I first read "don't need Ben's head in there" I immediately thought of Ben Wade and
wondered what you were talking about, then of course I looked again at the picture I posted. When it comes to 'Bens', it's like the Highlander -
there can be only one!
A couple of Russell news items this morning. First, another person wants Russell to star in their movie. Who knows, Russell may even be interested in a smaller movie when he finishes RH. http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,25601770-5006070,00.html

Also, maria found an interesting read this morning at Cinematical. We may not agree with Mr. Anderson's assessment of Gladiator and ABM but he's at
least a rational, thoughtful writer and one who can also perhaps somewhat see the error of his ways.

Good morning Cindy! I replied to that blog from an email alert this morning. I'm glad that our continuing ardent defense has not prevented the man from
coming to his senses.
Here's one that may just be someone's wishing and hoping. He has done the humble hero thing after all. Crowe on target to play humble hero
C'mon get happy! We'll make you happy! |

Cindy4764 wrote:from your fingertips to russell's goosebumps! we all know how much he loves to work with horses, and he seems to enjoy doing
biographical films (or maybe that's simply a coincidence), so i'm excited to hear about this one. the only thing that worries me is russell's
penchant for doing his own stunts, but i wonder if he really knows how incredibly dangerous a high stakes, high-speed horse race can be? maybe if he goes to
ascot and sees it first-hand, he'll learn. [oooh! maybe the lovely and the kids will be there and we'll get some new pix! is the family still with
him?]
i don't know if there's any way to stage a race and have it look real, but it frightens me to think of him truly driving a spindly-legged thoroughbred horse in a close pack at 40 mph. not that i don't believe he could do it (i'm sure he could), but... he's also quite a
bit larger than your average professional jockey. don't they usually weigh about 45 pounds fully-clothed?
i wonder if he really would want to meet janiak before he's had a chance to inhabit the character on his own. if i'm remembering correctly, he didn't want to meet jeff wigand; i don't exactly recall his feelings about meeting dr. nash or richie roberts; and it kinda goes without saying (so why am i saying it?) that he didn't want to meet jimmy braddock. you can't eat your pride or cleanse your soul of what is you -

He had put something of himself into his work, rather than putting up a wall.omg, is this guy a complete moron? that russell puts so much of himself into his work is a huge part of his appeal as an actor. he's never the same man in any two films. can't help wondering if my former detractors still appreciate him, or if their perfect, orderly, easy-to-read world has now been shattered by Crowe's more complex and subtle new style. Would they mind saying they were wrong?we need to send mr. anderson a link to this website! i haven't been here long enough to call myself one of 'they', but haven't 'we' always thought his style was "complex and subtle"? that's part of the reason why so many people don't 'get' him - he's too complex for their fast-food, instant-gratification, give-it-to-me-now mindsets. and maximus did smile. not often, but when he did, he lit up the entire screen, and you simply want to bask in its glow. they were very hard-won and all the more beautiful because of it. i'm glad this guy seems to be changing his thinking about russell. maybe there's some hope for him! the eyes have it...

richly deserved and too long in arriving. interesting that they're putting randy newman in the motion picture category and not under recording artists. heh. having a star in the walk of fame is probably the only way people will ever have a chance to walk all over russell.
