hmmmm.... i wonder what marian would make of cal? i think i know what she'd like to make with him, but that's a different
story. which perhaps someone could be thinking about already.
we can dream, can't we? it's new year's day, just like the day before. same old skies of grey; same
empty bottles on the floor.

Oops, forgot another Russell moment from this week... I was the emcee for Trivia Night at my favorite pub on Tuesday. I went by on Monday and the guy who
writes the questions was still figuring out some of them, especially the picture round. I suggested that he use Russell Crowe movies, and he groaned and said,
"Nooooo!" etc. So, I came in on Tuesday and THIS was the picture round!
(My real name has been changed to protect the silly... ) I don't know how to do thumbnails, so I hope this isn't too big!

omg, how fun is that! i'd love to hear how well (or poorly) people did on this one.
just guessing, they won't identify the insider, mystery, virtuosity, a good year or romper stomper. and maybe not even cort... poor fools. it's new year's day, just like the day before. same old skies of grey; same
empty bottles on the floor.

It was interesting - some did very well but most did not. I talked to one guy who mentioned that he got all but Romper Stomper, largely because of some
serendipitous timing. Just last weekend he and his girlfriend were on a long car trip and played a "list" game - and one of the categories was
Russell Crowe films!
Most people didn't get RS or Virtuosity, but I was most surprised by how many people were so excited to see Mystery, Alaska - calling it their favorite movie of all time! Nearly everybody knew American Gangster and M&C, but almost EVERY guy knew LAC - and loved it! Several of the women knew CM and
AGY too. My favorite pic though, was the one for TI - such an iconic pic of that movie!
We didn't get to having to name the characters, so I have NO idea how people would've done on that! It was really fun to get a guage on the popularity of these movies though.

I do not know whether someone wants to read, but it was certainly unusual.
Yesterday we had 40 Chinese wedding couples here for the ceremony with actors Sissy and King Ludwig. Chinese and German television, with the press and the Chinese Consul My daughter was photographed and umpteen times with little gifts. There are very funny and sometimes even chaotic, the Chinese people. Unlike Japanese, so stiff and often look as if you were offended at their own wedding. We had also been an Australian opera singer here and a few Americans. But is becoming less, holding that the Asians and Russians. Will soon have the pictures of it - the link in advance, that you believe me, so what I report. |

tried to find an old thread for prisoners of the sun, but i guess it's too old and too little-seen to be in the 14-odd pages of current threads.
anyway, i got this film from netflix today. i've already seen it (very early on in my addiction/affliction/croweholicism), but i thought now that i have
quite a bit more background and understanding of 'rc the man', i'd revisit a few of his earlier works (for instance, i watched spotswood a
few nights ago, and even though kim is a fairly despicable character, i thoroughly enjoyed the movie - sir tony is always wonderful). and i've been a
bryan brown fan since thornbirds, and later, fx. i know russell's not in it a whole lot, but does anyone have any suggestions of anything to
watch for?
can i buy you a drink, big boy?

tried to find an old thread for prisoners of the sun, but i guess it's too old and too little-seen to be in the 14-odd pages of current threads.becks, I looked as well (but under Blood Oath), I'm sure we used to have one but I can't find it either, course I've never had luck with the dang search function. In the meantime, have you seen this http://www.kaspinet.com/BloodOathHome.htm just a little something a threw together. I've been trying for months to contact Brian Williams because it seems http://www.bloodoath.com.au/ has been taken down. I even wrote George Takei because we were in contact with him when creating the site, just to see if he would pass on my email address. So young. What we do in life... echoes in eternity.
