I'm generally not a Ben Stiller movie fan, but I saw this movie yesterday and laughed my a$$ off through the entire movie. �� It is one of the silliest movies I've ever seen, and it is SURE to offend, but if you can let go of any sensitivities and just enjoy, you'll love it.�� Robert Downey, Jr. is absolutely priceless (and totally AWESOOOOOME) and Tom Cruise gives the best performance I've ever seen from him. � It's one of those "Oh, is that so-and-so?" movies where major actors show up all over the place in small parts, which is fun, but a little distracting.� But the biggest problem I had was laughing so hard I missed the next line!

actor" who undergoes a procedure... gee I wonder what thinly veiled reference that was??? ;)

everyone says "channelling RC" - and they're right - but he doesnt overdo it - which is a blessing
I laughed too - it's just so ridiculous and just plain funny - fart jokes and all Anyone who follows how movies are made (as in, everyone of us!) should see this - it's rude & crude, but I thoroughly enjoyed it And Tom aint shabby either....................... Once, always, Russell Crowe "beauty...delight...passion" no contemporary actor is better at conveying an uncluttered personal integrity and nobility of spirit. disgusted with the premise and doesn't like making lite of the military and what they stand for and what they do for this country.
For Me, I can barely stand Ben Stiller. Generally a serious over actor in his films and basically the same idiot in all of them. I won't lie though, I really enjoyed "Night at the Museum" and might have liked it more with another comedian in the lead role. But it was entertaining and the premise interesting. My favorite slap stick type film we see today is "Night at the Roxbury". The ones that followed with Will Ferrell have torturous to watch. I find it difficult to imagine the changes in society with these films kicking it at the box office. But if "Dumb and Dumber" can make almost $150 milion at the box office I guess all these films are game for the big money.  Your Signature ...

This movie basically takes potshots at every actor who has over-emoted in a military movie (and there have been plenty!), as well as the people behind the scenes who are just excited to blow stuff up! As I said before, I'm not a big Ben Stiller fan either, mostly because of the silly slapstick humour -- but this movie just seemed somewhat cleverer (-er) than that. That said, I don't think this movie is for everyone... but *I* loved it!

I thought it was wonderful too. I was still chuckling an hour later. No, it's not making fun of the miliary at all, but maybe of the people who exploit
the military and the emotions connected thereto for their own purposes, which would include actors and studio heads. There were a lot of funny things to think
about, it wasn't all slapstick.
I knew Tom was in it, was looking for him, and then didn't recognize him for quite a while (although I kept having that niggling, "I should know who the heck that is" feeling, till I figured it out. I very much enjoyed his performance. Especially the end. That was cute.

I served in the Army, and I really wasn' t offended by the movie's premise. Understanding it's a very personal thing of course, but the movies
usually get it wrong anyway when it comes to depicting a military environment (yeah, there are some exceptions, certainly) but as Gigs said, it wasn't
about the military at all. I don't care for Ben Stiller much either, although I love There's Something About
Mary. The first fifteen minutes of the movie had me laughing my butt off hysterically, and I had the same experience you did about feeling like I should
recognize the character played by Tom Cruise, MM. Overall, for me the movie had its moments, but I was rather disappointed although Robert Downey Jr. was
probably my favorite part of the whole experience.

I finally saw Tropic Thunder and have to agree with Scooter and Gigs. The setup is so obvious that it's not the military or developmentally challenged
individuals that are being parodied, it's the film industry that's the target.
As far as the film goes, it was funny enough but not bust your gut funny. For me, the movie was Roberth Downey, Jr., Brandon T. Jackson and Jay Baruchel. I loved the exchanges between Downey and Jackson and Baruchel did a wonderful job with a part that could have been easily overshadowed. He was great in Knocked Up as well, one of the few things I liked about that movie too. I happen to like Stiller. I've watched him since his TV show fifteen years ago or so. I haven't liked everything he's done but he's done some great satire. It's just that a little Tropic Thunder went a long way for me. I think I actually enjoyed the "trailers" (especially Satan's Alley) more than the movie itself.

I finally got to see this movie. I like Ben Stiller, though some of his movies (lately) just haven't been that funny. I liked Zoolander and Something
About Mary. Robert Downey Jr. was completely hysterical as was Tom Cruise. I thought Matthew McConaughey was funny too.
I thought the whole movie was pretty cleverly written, not disappointed at all, I laughed from beginning to end. Definitely have to rent it because I'm sure I missed alot laughing so much :)
