The official site has some clips from SOP! But not in the Video section - the only thing there right now are two TV spots. After you click on enter the site,
the screen shows 4 actors. If you hold the cursor over each pic, a clip will play. If you move the cursor away, it stops playing. Russell and Rachel's
clips are only a line or two but Helen's clip is excellent. I am so looking forward to the Crowe/Mirren dynamic in this movie.

Whoo Hoo, a wonderful find by Cindy! Turns out that the skinny clip of Helen and Russell at the official site isn't complete. (It cuts off while Helen is
ranting.) Cindy found a longer clip at the NY Times and it's fantastic - it goes on with Cal losing his cool, jumping up and yelling back at Helen. Wow,
this is great stuff. Anyone who has only seen the official site clip, run run run to the NY Times clip to see the whole thing!
http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/444143/State-of-Play/trailers Hopefully they will put some clips up in the Video section at the official site. So far they still only have the 2 TV spots there. I am so excited about this movie. The more glimpses of Cal I get in the trailers and now in this clip, the more I cannot wait.
............................................ becks, I think mara was linking to the official site. Try this one: http://www.stateofplaymovie.net/ Sorry I didn't link to the official site in my post above. I figured everyone would know it already. My bad.

I had a wonderful evening celebrating the career of Nic Roeg and the sweet beautiful Kevin Macdonald made a lovely presentation about him. I might have a
picture even. I half thought Russell might even turn up but since Ridley wasn't there (conspicuous by his absence) I guess they were busy.

Susi - so glad to see you are safe and sound. I read about the dam bursting in Jakarta.
The official State of Play website has those stills in high definition in the gallery. If you let the photos load you can then capture them in your temporary internet files like so (thumbs open to full size - I believe these are all the ones so far with Russell): |

Thanks to maria, comments from imdb with the Empire review of SOP as well as comments from other UK reviewers. Pretty amazing that it's getting such good
reviews from the Brits as the mini-series was pretty popular.
Empire's review of SoP. Spoilers if you go to the site, safe to read this excellent critique of Russell's performance. :) http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/reviewcomplete.asp?FID=135201
There was another post at imdb listing some comments from other UK sites, supposedly on the International SOP site? Though not quite reviews, here are some of the review comments as listed on the SoP website (international version): |

Hoky smokes Bullwinkle! I think they've got a hit on their hands! That is one hell of a good review from Empire and especially complimentary of Russell.
It's an impressive moment, and a valuable reminder that Crowe's talents run far deeper than greying his hair and putting on a bit of flab.Russell is wonderful in every part but it does seem a big waste of such big talent to put him in a minor character part now when he is in his prime. Let him play men like Ed (BoL) when he's really that age. I'm sure it's a nice break not to carry every film on his back but he's better utilized as a lead within ensemble work like Yuma and, it sounds like, SoP. Can't wait! |

Looks like the SOP official site is now fully operational. You can follow each character in steps with videos, audio clips, and pictures. It's kinda like the AG site where you kept clicking to go on to the next video. There's about 15 or so vid clips you can collect out of your cache. I gotta say, Cal is one hell of a reporter. Quietly determined. Moral. Cool and calm when he needs to be but as we've seen from the clip with Helen, he can lose that cool. Did I mention I can't wait?
edited to add --- the international site has a clip under Video that isn't on the US site

The person who posted the comments about Russell acting in supporting parts like Ed in BOL is absolutely right. Russell is a born LEADING MAN and he shines in such parts..in fact the entire movie benefits. Nice reviews for SOP ,if the Brits like it it must be damn good.. Come on April 17th!!!! |
