I love pics of your cats, kaspi - always beautiful cats and always fun shots! (LOVE the one of Hogan andWillow, too cute!) And Chats, I second kaspi on good
to hear good news about Magoo.
BTW, the Shelter Challenge ended last week and although Likamay's shelter (Pet Paw-see, in Great Falls, MT) did not win the grand prize, they DID win the state prize for Montana! Congrats Likamay! (more details here)

I love that baby photo of Max - all ears! Sooo cute.
We have a new family member. Kathryn and I have talked about getting a bunny for years - even named one of the cats Bunny and I finally caved for her 14th
birthday. They had such a nice cage set up at the local pet lodge it made it all too easy. For those of you who have read the Twilight series - I think Rusty
has "imprinted" on Bella the bunny. He is in lurve.

Look how pink he was!Actually, his skin is still very pink. It's just now he has so much more hair it doesn't show through anymore! I love that baby photo of Max - all ears! Sooo cute. I always knew large breed puppies had to grow into their feet. Max taught me papillon puppies have to grow into their ears! Congrats on the new addition! I love Bella's coloring! For those of you who have read the Twilight series - I think Rusty has "imprinted" on Bella the bunny. He is in lurve.Having read the series
I had a bunny when I was much younger, I think I actually might have been right around Kathyn's age. This is (was) Sunshine

What a bunch of great pictures. Puppy Max may be the cutest thing ever! What ears. And the bunny looks extra snuggly.
Stanley is going to be in a rescue pets calender. Mr October, of course, for the black cat. So I had a professional photographer over to take his picture......
and while she was at my house, I brought out the other furballs for their moment of glory. The pictures she took were amazing. Here is just a sample......

Beautiful! All the bunnies and the puppies and the kitties!
But I love the pic of Baxter, that's a classic and should be in the calendar too!
TaMAHra, I agree with kaspi on the cute quotient in your household.
BTW, Moo, I love that you decided to take in the nice Irish cat, Rusty O'Shea. My friend Sharon lives with a relative of his (obviously of a different branch of the family since he's a chocolate lab), named Seamus O'Shea.
This is from when he was still just a puppy, about six months old. He's about 130 lbs now, and at least TWICE as big!

What beautiful kitties! I can't decide who is my favorite!
The Westchester Kennel Club has a dog show every September in Tarrytown, about 20 minutes from where I live. Well, this year they've turned it into a 2 day event, with the first day being an agility tournament! I'm very excited to finally be able to see a competition in person! I hope to be able to get some decent pictures to share.

hkdrs wrote:His name was just Rusty when he came to live with us. But he came right before St Patrick's Day and I found the green collar. There is another Rusty in the Pet Paw-See program so I added the O'Shea part. It just fits him. Not sure why but he's always been Rusty O'Shea to me. I told him about his "cousin". He offered to throw back a pint with him sometime. Rusty has had several different homes in his short life (he's not yet 1 year old) but he's flexible and like dogs just fine. Speaking of homes, I have a new project for the pet paw-see. I'm trying to put together some information for people who are trying to rent with pets. Things they can do to improve their chances. So I'd love suggestions from those of you who rent or have rented while owning dogs/cats/rabbits/anything. And info about your landlords. Did they increase the deposit, make you sign something extra, etc? I'll eventually be putting together a presentation for the local landlords associations. So I'd love any help you can give me. chats -
oh, man! i've been to the westchester kc show, and other than having a hard time finding a place to park (give yourself LOTS of extra time!), it was a lot of fun. i don't recall that they had agility then, but i've seen a few. wow, are those dogs and handlers quick! even the mistakes are fun
to watch. it's cool to see how excited the dogs get when they know they've done a good job, but i'm always most impressed with the handlers who
praise their non-winning dogs as enthusiastically as those who've won. anyone who thinks it's cruel has never seen them 'working'; it's
clear to me that the dogs really love this event. and why not? they get to do something challenging, stimulating and fun with their favorite person!
if you can ever get to an obedience trial, those are amazing, too. the teamwork between dog and handler is phenomenal. have a great time - can't wait to see pix! becks |

chats -Looks like Agility is a new addition. The first reference I can find to it is in 2007, so this may be just the third year they're doing it. It's been about 20 years since I've been to the Westchester show. My older sister found her breeder (she's always had Malamutes) at this show. I've been looking to go again since getting Max. As this is an outdoors show you can bring your dog with you, and I thought it would be a fun way to spend an afternoon with him. But it just always seemed to fall on a day I couldn't make. When I started looking for info on this year's show I discovered the addition of the agility competition and that's when I said I'm going no matter what! I'm getting together a group of us from our dog park to attend together.

heh - wouldn't it be funny if we were at the same show? that's about how long ago i was there - i was in the process of getting my first dog and
searching for a reputable rottweiler breeder, and i spent every weekend for months lurking at all the akc shows i could find within a 200-mile radius. it was
a hardship
but i don't know of any better way of finding a reliable, committed, knowledgeable breeder. i finally found a good 'un, and bonnie
and i are still very dear friends, even though my spree went to rainbow bridge almost six years ago. hmmm.... i'll have to see if i can scan a pic of her
to post. i'm not particularly techno-savvy, so don't hold your breath!
sounds like you'll have a terrific time, and max should really enjoy it, too! will there be a conformation show going on the same day, or have they split the events into separate days? how about obedience? now you've got me jonesing for a dog show! i'll have to see if there are any coming to
this area... http://infodog.com/showinfo/showmain.htm

omg. i just checked the show schedule - there is an all-breed show in north conway (where i live) over labor day weekend! now i have to decide - do i have
time to get smudge groomed and do some reminder training so i can show him? entries close on wednesday the 19th, so i have a little bit of time to think about
it. there's also the consideration that i will have just started my new job that week - can i afford the time a show would consume? ack!
chats, this is all your fault!
